Reading Reflection 2

In this exercise, I'd like you to select a book from the second half of the Official ENT 3003 Reading List and report on it.

For this reading reflection I decided to go with "How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big" by Scott Adams. I chose this book because its title caught my eye. I was really interested in what the author would have to say about being to fail and still be a winner. The main thing I took way from this book was the author's view on being "selfish". Of course, he doesn't mean only pay attention to yourself and be man, but instead to prioritize your health, your well being, your economics, and much more before you decide you have the time to give to everyone else. This speaks to me, and I'm sure many other, because I try to do everything for everyone else before I do anything for myself. This has effected my eating, sleeping and health. I am sure I am not alone in this because it is just who we are ash humans, we try to help people. This book opened my eyes to the fact that in order to succeed in what YOU WANT, you have to actually put what YOU WANT first. This may seem selfish, hence the name, but it is just what has to be done to ensure your business succeeds. This book is a perfect fit for this class because we are coming up with ideas, but of course we want these ideas to succeed and this book tells you just how to do that.

  1. I also chose this book and agree with your statement. It was interesting how the author told us to first worry about ourselves before worrying about others. It made me realize that sometimes being selfish short term actually benefits everyone in the future. Maximizing your personal energy is something I am trying to do more of now. I also really like the fact that the author showcases how failure can be positive and how you can learn from it and milk all you can from it.
